Points of Law and Various Notes
With the developments in the UN over
Iraq, I can not tell you when I have had more fun telling French
jokes. I just love French jokes. You know, “why does the new
French Navy have Glass Bottom ships??--So they can see the old French
navy.” Or General George Patton's quip that he “would
rather have a German division in front of him than a French division
behind him.” And the French do not have anything you can really
call a motorcycle. The closest thing they have to the Springfield
Mile is the Tour De France and you have to peddle-no wonder it takes
days, and remember these are the same people that built the Maginot
Line to keep out the Germans before WW2. It took the Germans about
3 hours to simply go around and that was with a lunch break.
I enjoy needling those who appear
uppity - like the French. Then I think about why every state in
this country has a city or town or village or county or school or
street or shopping mall named Lafayette- the Frenchman who helped
win our independence. Then I think about the Statue of Liberty,
one of the most treasured symbols of our freedom, a gift from France-
and it is not as much fun telling French Jokes anymore.
